FAQ's

1. What is Pilates?
Developed in the 1920’s by Joseph H. Pilates, The Pilates Method is an exercise system focused on improving strength and flexibility. Pilates works by utilizing a series of controlled movements that engage your body and mind, performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus and supervised by extensively trained teachers. The benefits of Pilates are unlimited, and the method is a wise choice for those wanting to lengthen, strengthen and tone their bodies, as well as those wanting to heal and find inner strength.

2. What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the Chinesehealing art that can be dated back at least two thousand years. On the most basic of levels, acupuncture can be described as the insertion of very fine needles into the skin at specific acupuncture points in order to influence the functioning of the body. Acupuncture stimulates the body’s ability to resist or overcome illnesses and conditions by correcting imbalances. Acupuncture also prompts the body to produce chemicals that decrease or eliminate painful sensations.

3. Is Acupuncture painful?
Performed properly, acupuncture is not painful. Most of the time, very little (if anything) is felt. Sensations possibly felt at the site of insertion once a needle is inserted include warmth, distention, release, mild contraction, tingling, etc. These are all common and subtle responses.

4. What is the purpose of chiropractic adjustments?
An adjustment helps to restore proper normal mechanical and neurological function to the vertebrae and joints of the body. It is a safe and gentle procedure used to eliminate or reduce a subluxation (when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves). Adjustments are vital for the optimal health of the body.

5. Do I have to be adjusted all the time?
No. If the adjustment keeps going out of alignment, the surrounding muscles could be tight or weak. We do not keep trying to adjust the same segments, but rather strengthen the affected area or relax the tight muscles.

6. Can massage therapy help my arthritis and Fibromyalgia?
Studies have shown that exercise, stretching, relaxation therapy, and massage therapy can provide relief for people with Fibromyalgia and arthritis. Massage therapy has also been shown to reduce pain, stiffness, fatigue, and sleeping difficulties associated with these diseases.

7. Can I do Pilates if I am pregnant?
Absolutely! Pilates during pregnancy can be extremely beneficial and comparatively less tiring than other forms of exercise and body movement. Pilates works on some of the most important muscle groups for pregnancy. These are the abdominals, pelvic, and back muscles, which are used greatly during the entire pregnancy period as well as labor. The moves challenge you by helping build muscular endurance, flexibility and, most importantly, good balance, something you'll need as pregnancy progresses. Besides, these factors also make giving birth so much easier.

8. Do you accept health insurance?
Yes. Our facility accepts most PPO policies as well as Medicare.

9. What injuries and health conditions do you treat?
We specialize in treating many different conditions including sports injuries, auto accidents and work injuries. Allergies, digestive disorders, menstrual disorders, and repetitive and chronic infections.

10. Do I have to see a doctor to begin coming to your facility?
If you are generally pain free, you are welcome to begin any of our wellness programs including massage and Pilates without seeing our doctors.
